Join us for an evening of live New Orleans jazz, home-cooked jambalaya, and a preview showing of SANS EVERYTHING.
SANS EVERYTHING is a collaboration between Strange Attractor and Lightning Rod Special that investigates the human need to watch and be watched: to perform. It follows a group of space explorers so far in the future that everything from our world has been forgotten, including all forms of performance. When the crew finds themselves wracked with the mysterious desire to perform AS YOU LIKE IT, their harmonious society is beset by Elizabethan-style chaos: a total collapse of world order. SANS EVERYTHING begs the question, what do we owe the past when we consider the future?
For the third year in a row, Lightning Rod Special will travel to New Orleans. In 2013 we drove down in a 31' RV with four shows in tow. This year we will introduce our second favorite city to some of our favorite collaborators, Strange Attractor. Our companies were awarded a $10,000 matching grant by the Network of Ensemble Theatres to collaborate on SANS EVERYTHING while exchanging administrative best practices around running a small, independent theatre company. The Special Strange fundraiser will raise funds to match the grant and get us to New Orleans!
